Mug decorated with painting depicting the execution of the famous Greek philosopher Socrates. In 399 BC, Socrates was found guilty of "corrupting the young" and "impiety"(worship of false gods), and was given the death penalty. He was taken to jail and given a drink with poison which to drink, and invited his followers to his cell. In his final moments, be began his final discourse and spoke on the soul and its immortality.
